This is it.
We officially have less than a month left in 2023.
There’s a lot of speculation on what 2024 has in store. I can tell you with absolute certainty that the entrepreneurial spirit that so many people have obtained in recent years will continue to skyrocket. With the rapid technological advancements and evolving market dynamics, the opportunities to innovate and create businesses will only increase.
Have you started a business recently?
If you have, then 2024 should be your best year yet.
As you get deep into planning for 2024, take some time to reflect on why you started this crazy entrepreneurial journey in the first place. Remember your ‘Why.’
My ‘Why’ has been my north star and the driving force behind every business venture. No matter what kind of business I start, whether it’s a pest control company or a law firm (yes, I have started and scaled both), the common denominator behind every business success is my ‘Why.’
Now that you’ve evaluated that, here are some tips that can take your business to new heights in 2024:
Leverage and Embrace Soft Skills
While generative AI and its accompanying innovative tools are super awesome, it’s important to remember that human interaction remains a crucial aspect when conducting business. Customers still crave that personal touch when engaging with your brand.
My digital marketing company, Lizard, has 4 values that all employees live by:
AI is important and has its place in what we do at Lizard but do you think it can replace how humans deliver on these values? It’s the humans at Lizard who make our customers thrive.
The same should apply to your business.
Forbes recently wrote an article about the top business trends of 2024 and they hit hard on the importance of soft skills:
“…the ability to leverage soft skills for tasks that still require a human touch becomes critical. For this reason, in 2024, we will see organizations increasing their investment in developing and nurturing skills and attributes such as emotional intelligence, communication, interpersonal problem solving, high-level strategy, and thought leadership.”

Innovate Your Customer Experience
Companies that are constantly evaluating and improving their customer experience will be the companies that win big in the end. Your customers are the reason you’re in business right now. If you ensure their desired outcomes are met while delivering an exceptional experience, the likelihood of them becoming long-term promoters of your business will increase dramatically.
Innovating your Customer Experience all comes down to one thing: Identifying and meeting your customers’ evolving needs.
I had a conversation with David Subar, Founder and Managing Partner of Interna, about this very subject. This conversation is a goldmine for anyone wanting to know exactly how to get to the heart of what your customers want, leverage customer data, and build your product around their needs.
Listen to the full conversation here.
As technology and the world change, so will the needs of our customers. To stay on top of this, I recommend doing the following:
- Meet with your customers consistently.
- Send out satisfaction surveys asking for feedback.
- Hire Account Management or Customer Success representatives who can work closely with your larger clients to ensure their success.
Remember, you’re in the business of making your customers thrive.
A solid CX strategy that evolves with your customers is the key to doing just that.
Amplify Your Online Presence
This goes not only for your business but for yourself.
Are you personally on social media positioning yourself as a subject matter expert? I can guarantee you that your competition is using social media to boost their personal brands.
For example, I create multiple short-form videos to enhance my personal brand and share my expertise with the world. Knowing that people in my sphere of influence are actively engaged on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, I capture their attention and connect with them through captivating content.
Leveraging social media to boost your business and personal brand is the best way to compete in 2024 and beyond.
In addition to the power of social media, these strategies can also bring you thousands of new customers this next year:
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize your website to rank higher in search engine results, making it easier for potential customers to find you.
- Content Marketing: Create valuable and relevant content (blogs, videos, podcasts) that answers your audience’s questions or solves their problems, establishing your business (and yourself!) as an authority in your field.
- Email Marketing: Collect emails from your website visitors and customers through quality lead magnets and other initiatives. Send regular updates, promotions, and personalized content to keep your audience engaged.
- Online Advertising: Invest in online ads through Google Ads or social media platforms to target specific audiences.
Business success is a game and when you have the right pieces in place (the items discussed above) you will be in a position to dominate for years to come.
So as you conclude you’re planning for 2024, remember to focus on the following:
- Your ‘Why’
- Soft Skills
- Your Customer Experience
- Your Online Presence
These are the tools that can get your business to places you never thought possible.
